Gus's Subs & Pizza Place

I FOUND BREAKFAST FRIED POTATOES AT GUS'S! Folks I've been trying to find a decent American breakfast since I moved to San Diego in 2010. I have routinely been disappointed with the fried potatoes. Today I discovered that you can order the home fries here and you can simply ask them to remove the onions or the Bell peppers. Which I did with the onions in this photo. I also could have asked for them to be well done. I highly recommend this place for breakfast. It seems to have a handful of locals in here on a Friday morning. Wait staff is friendly and very competent and I found it to be very clean. The food was served hot the beverages were served cold what else can you ask for?

Great sandwich! reminds me of the one I get in LA. I will be back. Oh the large was big enough to share.

Super disappointed. The place and staff were nice but the food was an absolute disaster. The burger buns was literally wet. The fries looked nice but tasted 2 days old, soggy, like rubber and they had zero seasoning. No salt, no pepper, nothing on the fries. Maybe an off day but none of us could finish the food we ordered.

The all-day specials advertised on the sign are misleading. When trying to order them after 2pm, staff refused, even after checking the sign outside and acknowledging it said all-day specials. The way it was handled felt dismissive and patronizing.. definitely frustrating for anyone expecting what’s advertised.

I was craving a good sandwich and decided to try this spot out after seeing some pictures online. I am glad I did! I ordered the footlong philly cheeesesteak sandwich with fries. Wow, this is a great combination of quality and quantity. There was plenty of meat, cheese, onions, and mushrooms. The bun was perfectly toasted as well. You will not leave hungry! Gus's has plenty of seating, and there is ample parking. The lady at the counter was very friendly and the restaurant feels like a cozy diner. I will be back for some more sandwich or pizza deliciousness. This is a hidden gem if you are not familiar with the area. Eat up!!
