Just had Taiwanese food for the first time, and I’m blown away! The Beef Noodle Soup was incredible, the broth looked red but wasn't spicy, just smooth and mellow. The noodles were soft, and the beef literally melted in my mouth. The Braised Pork Rice was also a winner with its fragrant soy aroma and perfect rice texture. The fried chicken was ok. What really tied everything together was their homemade pickled mustard greens. They were the perfect palate cleanser, cutting through the richness of the meat. It felt like exactly what my body needed, nothing was too overwhelming, just a perfectly balanced flavor profile. Oh, they served a tiny cup of appetizer broth to awaken the taste buds, which was so unique. With the side veggies, it felt like such a complete and nutritious meal.
This Taiwanese restaurant really gave me a comforting, home-like feeling. The staff seem to be Chinese and Taiwanese, and the lady at the front desk was very friendly and lovely. The complimentary chicken soup was delicious, even though the portion was small. The beef noodle soup tasted good, and the beef was generous, tender, and flavorful. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back again.
One word: amazing. The food, the atmosphere, the staff — all of it. The beef combo is a must. It comes with veggies, fried chicken, and jasmine tea, which is perfect on a cold day. The beef was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. There are only five seats at the bar, so definitely join the waitlist early. And if they suggest getting the sweet potato fries, do yourself a favor and say yes haha, it was SO good!!!
Gulp offers a variety of Taiwanese local dishes that have clearly been through a series of adjustment and evolution; I’d say it’s getting to the much better end now. However, depending on the cooking team, the quality is inconsistent considering the price. Sometimes the food may lean towards a rather oily end, or the pork they used may be too fatty, though that is just a personal preference. It’s a decent spot that has improved over time, so I’d still recommend to try it if you’re in the area. Seats are very limited, so may need to wait depending on when you pay a visit.
I go here at least once a month. So far the food is excellent, staff are friendly. This place never disappoint me. Hopefully in the future they will have a bigger seating area. Highly recommend!
