The food here was excellent! Both my partner and I had delicious lobster rolls, and split a lobster bisque. If you're visiting Connecticut like we were I can't think of a better place to have a lobster roll than on a dock by the water. Worth noting they are cash only and have an ATM inside. However there was a substantial yellow jacket population and they were none too afraid of us. Several crawled inside her soda before we could cover the top. I would recommend this place whole heartily if they could eliminate the yellow jackets entirely. To their credit I counted at least 5 traps, all working very well but not well enough to save our Pepsi can.
If you’re searching for one of the best warm lobster rolls in Connecticut, Guilford Lobster Pound belongs at the top of your list. The lobster roll is everything you want it to be—fresh, buttery, and flavorful, but not overly soaked. The bun is perfectly toasted and generously filled with tender lobster meat from end to end. This isn’t just my opinion either—they’ve consistently ranked among the top 3 lobster rolls in Connecticut in various local magazines and food publications. The homemade coleslaw and potato salad are the perfect sides—simple, fresh, and satisfying. I paired it with a classic canned Arnold Palmer, which was just right on a warm afternoon. While the menu includes hot dogs and Georgia hots, this is a seafood shack at heart. The atmosphere is casual and authentic, with
The lobster was definitely fresh and good quality, and the bun was soft and nicely toasted. But overall, the roll just didn’t wow me. It could’ve used more butter and seasoning to really bring the flavor out, it ended up tasting a little too plain. Not bad, just not memorable for the price
What a gem! My favorite lobster roll in Connecticut so far. Came here on a very hot day but it was comfortable sitting under the tent in their shaded tables and it was so serene by the water. The people and service were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome and taken care of. The lobster roll was perfection and no-nonsense — exactly what I was hoping for with a buttery bun that never got soggy and warm lobster meat caught fresh by the owners earlier that morning. The quality doesn’t get better than that, in my opinion! They also had lobster bisque that day which was creamy, flavorful, and overall just excellent. This place was worth the drive and I would come here again. (Just make sure to bring cash with you!)
Best lobster roll in Connecticut? Love coming to this place anytime I'm in the Guilford area. Got to get the lobster roll and clam chowder to be sure. Great stuff and super quick service!
