gRub Tropical BBQ

We visited in England for the 2nd time in August of 2025 and only getting around to writing a review now! It is such a nice place to get out of the August sun and watch the passers by on Pine Avenue. the service was quick and the food, very delicious indeed. I am now writing a book about Pine Avenue and this place is definitely getting a mention!

Food was good. I ordered the Cuban sandwich with black beans and rice; my husband ordered the ribs, a side of pulled pork and fries. BBQ was good, but not better than what our favorite BBQ restaurant (Meat - Old Town Lansing, MI) serves. The server was excellent.

Fun, laid-back joint with a unique (and very tasty) take on BBQ classics. Frose is on tap all day, and they've got good espresso and coffee options in the morning. Fast-casual style with good food and reasonable prices by island standards.

Worst bbq ive ever had. I should have KNOWN . I got a half pound brisket. Normaly brisket is cut in front of you at a bbq. This was not. i couldn't the food or anything behind the wall of the kitchen. I was suspicious when my food didnt come right out as i was the only one there , the cook was watching the football game so I asked if they dont just slice the brisket as the cook grabbed a "frying pan"? said its shaved?? I waited for a while. Finally got it , to go. When I opened it in my car I was in disbelief. Dry , not smoked , shriveled up , curlled up slices that were reheated in a pan sitting in a Puddle of greese not bbq juices . I took two bites and got a refund ! The girl at the counter/ cashier was great. The manager/owner was professional. This is not bbq . Byer beware.!!

The food was really good. The flavors of the side dishes were complex and delicious. The sauce is unlike traditional bbq sauce and very tasty. The waiter was exceptionally sweet! Thanks for the great food and great experience.
