Grub Stake

We dropped in for an early dinner. The service was great. The food was excellent. The menu is great... Dinner plates, steaks, prime rib, sandwiches, burgers and more. We're in town for a couple of days and we're planning to go back.

Grub Stake is the best of a Montana roadhouse! Great drinks and conversations at the bar, and the Philly Steak sandwich and chicken Ceasars salad were delicious. Right off I-15, don't drive on by!

Wow! The eggs Benedict tasted delicious. I was recommended to come here by my campsite owner, and I’m really glad I did. The atmosphere is old-fashioned in the best sense: polite, friendly, and easy. Quality staff make such a difference to any restaurant or experience, and that was definitely the case here. Values I genuinely appreciate.

A real Montana experience. Casual, seat yourself bar with an adult side (21+) and family side. Food is good. I had a grubstake burger with all the toppings, bacon and cheese. Hubby had the French dip. Burger is thick, 1/2 pound ground chuck. Fries are homemade but not salted so you’ll have to add it yourself. The French dip was “fine”. Waitress was nice, atmosphere is really laid back. Conveniently located right off the interstate. Without drinks our tab was $30

Waited at the "please wait to be seated" sign, while being ignored by the hostess for about 10 minutes, and had to flag down a server to be seated. The prime rib was bland, not cooked to specifications, and the vegetables looked like they came out of a frozen bag you'd buy at the dollar tree. They were also cold and flavorless . The Jo Jo's, the rolls, and the bison steak were great. Our server was pleasant and on top of things. However, didn't crack a smile or converse with us until we were about to pay. In total, over priced for the quality and the experience.
