Grist Milling and Bakery

Grist is home to the most delicious treats I’ve found in the area. Their quality is unmatched—a must-visit if you’re in the neighborhood! Beyond their ready-to-eat goods, I’ve loved incorporating their milled spelt into my home baking. I’ll definitely be a regular customer here for the foreseeable future.

Best bakery in town. I go with my daughter every week and they never disappoint. Their pastries and sweets are not overly sweetened and instead have a balance of other flavors (through spices and other natural/whole ingredients), which is rare these days and I really appreciate it. They are a gem in a town of this size.

Better than French bakeries!! (Coming from a real French citizen). Amazing bread, croissant and chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat). Congratulations, we’ll come back!!

Best bakery in Missoula! I love the cardamom knots and the buns and the almond croissant cake. Their bread is also amazing. Sooo fresh and yummi!

So I first got to try the Grist bread by having some sandwhiches in Stevensville at a little place called Ahava Coffee. I was in love with the first bite, and they told me where they get their bread. So off I went to Missoula to try and buy some. So far, I keep getting skunked. So, I wasn't sure about doing 3 stars...since I haven't actually been able to catch them open and try it all out. So my stars are based on another place ( which was awesome, by the way) where I got to try their product. I hope to add more stars someday. This most recent time I went by there, the hours said close at 2, but just before 1 the doors were locked, chairs were up and workers were standing behind counter.... Possibly discussing how silly we and two others that showed up looked trying to open their door. 🤪
