Customer Reviews
Ok we ended up at Greek Islands on a whim as our go to Mediterranean spot booked up. My better half had been here years ago and enjoyed it. I will say both exterior of the building and interior decor was dated but to us, it’s about the food. Highly recommend the Phoradas as a starter. The spicy Feta and eggplant dip wonderful. Hummus and Tzatziki also tasty. Loved the dressing on the salad as a perfect combination of oil, vinegar and spices. She ordered traditional Gyros which were very good. I honestly fell in love with the Pastitsio. I have not tasted such a flavorful version for years. I was lucky to grow up around wonderful Greek restaurants and this brought me home to them. We finished with the Baklava Cheesecake and it was a great ending to a fantastic meal. Our only regret was
I really wanted to like this place. I was visiting my gf and I’m a big foodie, she told me that Greek Island is an Indianapolis classic. $200 later we were extremely disappointed. We order sampler platter, flaming cheese & 3 entrees the stuffed flounder, Moussaka & lamb. They definitely do not know how to cook fish. My gf sent back the first time because it was like cardboard, the next fish they brought out was cold and not good (almost raw) the moussaka was ok, I’ve had better. The lamb was also just ok. The bread was not good. Hummus bland, baba ganoush just ok. Flaming cheese was good. Wine cheap tasting $12 a glass is not a big deal but I was horrible. The tzatziki was flavorful. The waters really tried hard but this place is struggling. I would not go back.
Oh my goodness! Everything was great: the food, the service, the appetizers, the desserts. It wasn't my first time there and I have never been disappointed. I cannot say good enough about this place. These people know how to cook great food and service was above and beyond great.
This is a Awesome place for great family style Greek food!!! This is my go to place for Greek food when I'm in Indianapolis. Family owned since 1987!!!!!!!!
The food was delicious the only complaint was the Olympic green beans were way over cooked would not recommend. My husband loved the hummus he said it was some of the best he has had. I got the pork tenderloin it was really good highly recommend. The Kalamata olives were good but a little on the expensive side but would do them again. My husband got the Pastitsio for his main dish he loved it and highly recommends it the only thing is it comes with the Olympic green beans and he said next time he will get a substitute for them I agree and I usually love green beans but not this time. The galaktoboureko that we had for dessert was to die for definitely will be getting it again.
