As Japanese as this gets. Omakase only, orange painted walls, nothing but the low sounds of the radio playing "Genie in a Bottle" and a counter for only 8 people. Got's Mart is run by Chef Kawano and his wife and that's the way they like it. One thing that stood out to me from the different omakases was that the ingredients would be the same, but the fish type was different. It was such an interesting take on how different flavors of the fish can impact the overall taste, even though it may have the same toppings. This is not a place for ambience, but definitely a place to get some high-quality sushi. 20 pieces of sushi, 1 sashimi, 2 little dishes = $325 including tax and tip.
When we first walked in I was a bit suspicious but it was the best sushi I had ever had. As a picky eater, I went all in and tried everything. All the different flavors were elite. Even the wasabi was an explosion of freshness! I can’t wait to come back! The chef was funny and friendly. 10/10 support this hidden gem!
Truly an incredible experience. The chef told us that fresh fish is flown in from Japan three times a week and the quality shows why. Omakase is a must have and you’ll be presented with some of the most beautiful dishes you can imagine: the tuna quartet was unbelievable and the baby shrimp was some of the best I’ve had. The price is no joke ($250 pp if you drink) but if you’re looking for the best LA has to offer by way of sushi, this is worth it. Along with Brothers in Woodland Hills, this is the best sushi I’ve had in the US.
Delicious sushi and great service, I will definitely be coming here more often. The chef really knows what he is doing, and I wish this place will be around for a long time. The fish tasted very fresh and the chef wants you to have a good experience and so do the other customers in there.
Reason for visiting: celebrate my new job (what what 🙌) Date/time of visit: Friday night, ~6:30 PM Parking: in the shared lot with other businesses; free Party size: 5 (2 kids) Environment/ambience: entrance is non-descript; only a green sign that says Sushi in front 😀, next to Papa John's. Once inside, it's pretty empty and looks like a market when you walk in; it used to be a seafood market but converted into a small restaurant. No decorations or anything fancy. No TVs, etc; just a small sushi bar. Prob not a good place for kids but Go and the staff do try to accommodate Service: was great. Sat at the bar, Go was serving/hosting and he was great. Other staff was friendly too Food: great! We did Omakase so Go chose everything for us and it was fantastic. Every dish was great, except maybe
