Gorkhali Restaurant in Roosevelt is one of the best places to enjoy authentic Nepali flavors in New York. The sekuwa, sukuti, and fish thali are especially delicious — perfectly cooked with the right blend of traditional Nepali spices. The sekuwa is juicy and smoky, the sukuti is crisp yet tender, and the fish thali feels like a true taste of home. The portion size is generous and worth the price. The restaurant has a cozy Nepali vibe, clean seating area, and a welcoming atmosphere. The service person was very polite and friendly, making sure everything arrived on time and just right. Whether you miss Nepali food or want to try something new, Gorkhali Restaurant is definitely worth visiting. A great spot for family and friends to gather and enjoy genuine Nepali hospitality and taste.
First time to have Nepalese food. It was decent. Not spicy at all. We enjoy the flavor of chicken. But the price was bit higher than I expected. Service was good even with some language barriers. Its good to have a try.
I feel like this place is unnecessarily hyped. I ordered both pork and chicken sekuwa, and they were actually very good, juicy and flavorful. The drinks, including the margarita and rum punch, were terrible. I honestly don’t know what was in them. The jhol momo was okay, nothing special. The chicken thali was very disappointing. The chicken was too plain, and the saag tasted undercooked and bland. The service was fine. The chilli momo was the worst it was not worth the price at all. The spices smelled and tasted raw, which ruined the dish. Overall, I would only recommend the sekuwa. Everything else really needs improvement. Adding this picture because this one was the best.
Worst pani puri experience I’ve ever had. I ordered pani puri and momo for takeout. The momo was fine, but the pani puri was completely disappointing. Instead of the proper aalu filling, they gave me aalu ko tarkari, which totally ruined the flavor. No one makes pani puri like that, and I have never seen any restaurant do that. If you can’t provide the correct ingredients or make it the way it’s supposed to be, then it really shouldn’t be on the menu. Customers pay for the food they expect, not random substitutions. Really disappointed.
Momo literally takes forever but is pretty good. The chowmein is excellent! Good service.
