Goldie's Ice Cream Shoppe

I’ve been visiting this ice cream shop for a while now! The food. The specials they have going all the time. Pretty sweet place to stop and grab a bite to eat! Fresh pie oh yeah 🤙 They have a drive through, you can order online and swing through. Reasonable pricing. I’ve been trying to get through every item on their menu! The dining area allows you to look out the window and see everyone coming and going. A small counter upfront for you to sit at and enjoy the daily chit chat of how things are going. People sharing memories, and the history of Prairie City! The pineapple twister with cake batter is one of my favorites! Support your local communities and the businesses within them. Thank you! This is probably THE best diner I have ever been to! Their food is amazing! And at really good prices for the quality of items. Service is incredible and so personal! Can't wait to come back for the ice cream! 😁👌⭐️

This place is a must-visit if you crave kind customer service, a simpler venue, and terrific food. Prairie City's gift to all of us! Different types of seating - booths, indoor patio, and the counter. Great food and seriously good ice cream. Drive-through window also. Thanks to Sandy for such great service to us rookies! Loved the pork tenderloin sandwich.

Since we haven't been there in awhile, Pam suggested we take a run out to Goldie's Ice Cream Shop in Prairie City, which isn't very far from Newton. It was around 1:00 Tuesday when we arrived, we were lucky to find one spot to park. The place was packed but we found a couple stools and set at the counter, which was comfortable. The servers quickly took our orders, as busy as they were we were shocked at how quickly our food arrived. Pam had the large cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dog and a side of onion rings, she loved the dog but I can't describe it because she didn't offer me a sample but ate the whole thing herself lol. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich which was voted best in Iowa. After my first bite I can certainly see why it won. I grew up eating countless tenderloins so I do know

Disappointed in experience after making the drive from Waukee. Ordered at the table in the back room.. food took 25 minutes to arrive at the table. Drink cups weren’t with order so we had to track those down ourselves because the gal working never came back after saying she’d get them for us. Two soda flavors were out and no one around to help switch out the lines. Chairs in back room are so uncomfortable and all metal in a concrete floor room made for a very LOUD lunch. The tenderloin was massive and pretty good. Sat on top of fries so those got soggy and tasteless. Ice cream was awesome but overall not worth the 45 min+ drive from Des Moines metro.Disappointed in experience after making the drive from Waukee.
