Golden Star

I loved this place. We are vegetarians and it’s hard to find fake meat on menus that is not impossible/beyond burger in a restaurant. That said the last order we placed was on Christmas Eve- the order was $400! We ended up with meat instead in some of what was supposed to be vegetarian food. That is extremely disappointing and could make us sick (my children have never eaten meat so they can’t digest it). This isn’t the first time this has happened. I don’t think we will be ordering again for our family functions. The food is good but I would be extremely careful if you intend on ordering food that is based on a dietary restriction. A friend and I stopped at Golden Star on the recommendation of someone at a local gas station. I am a vegetarian; my friend is not. I am used to a limited menu when I go out to non-vegetarian restaurants. OMG. Golden Star is a vegetarian's dream Chinese restaurant. The wonton soup was amazing. The chicken cashew dish was really good. I can't recommend this place enough to vegetarians (and non-vegetarians too). The friend I was with enjoyed her non-vegetarian Pad Thai. I wish I lived closer. I would be there all the time.

SO disappointed 😞 with my LAST experience there!! It was a take out order, and I'm a regular, and a really good tipper, even on take out orders. (Regretfully on my last order) One of their main dishes, Jumbo shrimp 🍤, with honey walnuts, the shrimp were JUST battered, NOT even with the SHELLS removed, or DEVEINED‼️😖.. I also ordered STEAMED vegetables, they came in a container loaded with sauce/gravy😑... and for the final insult.. I looked for some fortune cookies, at the end of our very disappointing $80. takeout 🥡 order.. there were NONE!!! APPARENTLY you have to order those ahead of time ⏲️ now!! .50 cents each!!! This is one of those rare Chinese Restaurants where you can actually go for a meal, not just take out. The food is great here, the wonton soup, the shrimp egg rolls, the pork fried rice all delicious! Especially the boneless ribs and the cheese wontons, very tasty. Place is located on 112, your order can be prepared in 10 minutes and picked up, front entrance, if you choose to dine in, there's a nice big parking lot to accommodate. I will return to explore more of the menu, pricing is reasonable.

Huge vegatarian/vegan menu. Everything was delicious. This is half of my lunch special Vegan General Taos chicken, came with veggie wonton soup $11.
