Golden 168 (Formerly Golden Run)

⭐️⭐️ (2/5) Golden 168 in Laurinburg is a pretty plain Chinese buffet. The price is affordable, but that’s about the biggest positive. The food itself is lacking in flavor compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve tried. The fried rice had no vegetables in it—just a few mushrooms, broccoli, and some green beans on the bar. Nothing special stood out. The worst part was that I actually found a piece of steel wool in my General Tso’s chicken. That was a deal-breaker for me. Some people might still enjoy it since it’s inexpensive, but personally, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Is it the best? No. Is it the worst? FAR from it. Decent price. Food is always hot and fresh when I go. If something is low, they reload fairly quick. I will say they need to cover their dessert cakes/cookies, or bring them out as requested to prevent becoming stale.

You seat yourself, and they don't even weigh your takeout boxes which is super cool. There's been times where the food was sometimes cold and only a few food items left in some of the pans, but recently it's been more fresh and you won't miss out on the popular food anymore 👍 The waiters are active, and will always make sure you get your refill 😺 Though my latest dining in was kinda sad, since I was immediately stuffed by a few bites of food, and didn't have any room left to try the new dessert item. 😞

Traveling through and searched for a Sunday lunch restaurant. Other review stated that this is a new opening and under new management, usually it will be positive surprise since it is New. Without hesitate We went to try this Chinese Buffet and couldn’t be happier that we did! The buffet has an abundance of choices! The service was excellent, restaurant was clean, the staff was very friendly and we felt very welcomed. Go hungry and you’ll leave happy. It was our first visit, but definitely won’t be our last!

I don't believe I have ever left a bad review, but I want to warn others. I travel extensively for work, and this was absolutely the worst meal I have had in recent memory. The selection was limited as is expected from a small buffet, but not a single tray was full. None of the warmers were working properly so most of the food was cold and we (2 of us) left hungry and in search of food. When this was mentioned to the staff they just stared at us while popping their gum. Please don't waste your time and money.
