Genuine Flava

I walked in while being on a work trip in the area - the owners were so welcoming and made me feel at home! I can’t find pigs feet ANYWHERE where I live, so this was such a treat! Big helpings and very delicious!!! What a southern specialty with the food and hospitality

I go to Genuine Flava often, I try other places in Sumter but find myself going back. So far I have had several different items and pleased with everything. Love chatting with them everytime I go in. Usually visit after normal lunch time when its slower. Just realized I havent been in a few weeks, guess I know where I am going to lunch today!

Every now and then you come across a restaurant that just hits different. This is one of those hidden gems. Stopped because I was in town for work and it was on the way, notice the high reviews. The reviews are warranted. The food was fantastic, reminded me very much of a cooked at home meal. Nothing was overly sweet or overly salty, my fried chicken was cooked to perfection. The collard greens were tasty, the mac and cheese was delicious, the candied yams for a treat, and the cornbread was perfect. If I'm in town again, I will absolutely stop by this delectable eatery.

Old school Southern food joint. The way it used to be and the way it should stay. Hole in the wall place off the beaten path in Sumter. Food was awesome, fresh and definitely authentic Southern. 3 people, got 3 meals and I tasted them all and all were fantastic. Will be going for oxtails on Thursday. Large portions but 3 people was $50. A smidge pricey but worth it once in a while. Everyone there was incredibly friendly, another Southern trait that's slowly fading in many places. On a side note, stop all the construction and moving outsiders in or this "feel" will become extinct. Buy local and keep these places open! Prices are getting up there for a stop by for lunch situation so -1 ⭐. Everything else was excellent!

Visited today from Tampa, FL, and the food was absolutely delicious. Seasoned to perfection, and the meat was falling off the bone. The butter beans and okra, and red kool-aid....Child, please! The staff was great, and Joe made the experience phenomenal. Highly recommended!
