On my way from NJ to Richmond VA, decided to take Rt 1 south instead of 95. Im happy I found this non-descript Puerto Rican/Dominican spot. The menu is limited ,but the food seems fresh. Hot and delicious. This is a great spot, I'll probably stop here on my way back to NJ in a few days.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel it’s important to share honestly. From the moment we arrived, the overall cleanliness of the establishment was concerning. The dining area did not appear well maintained, and there was visible dust buildup, dirty air filter grills, and cobwebs around the ceiling fans and trim. Cleanliness is a basic expectation when dining out, and unfortunately, it did not meet the standard. The service was also disappointing. Advice for the owner: the food needs to have flavor. I'm referring to seasonings like sofrito, especially if it's Puerto Rican an Dominican food. Don't just use salt. For the meats, marinate them in advance; they'll be tender and flavorful without needing to add salt right before cooking them on the grill. That's my opinion. My respects to you for daring to open a business, but I think these details I mentioned could help you.
Our first time trying this type of food, and I was pleasantly surprised! I'm a new admirer of plantains! The beef stew was so good and my husband loved the paella!
We are from NYC, been here since 2013 and glad we finally found a local Spanish food spot.. Great food and wonderful staff!! 👍🏼👍🏼 Been a while (3 years) but we back. Food was better than last time. Best alcapurrias around. Empanadas were delicious. We will definitely be back soon. Definitely worth a visit for some delicious spanish food. 😁👍🏼👍🏼
