Fruta Freeze

Update: went back a week later and they are consistently delicious. I did another simple nanche ( or nance) since this is one of the few places in Austin I can find it. We also tried the tropical raspado with tamarindo and it was incredible. It may be my favorite one. Fruta Freeze is a true gem in Austin! Their traditional raspados bring back wonderful nostalgia for me. We started simple with the tamarindo and nance raspados, each with a banderilla – both were incredibly tasty and hit just right. They offer a fantastic array of combinations, but since it had been a while, we decided to begin with these classic flavors. Went on a Thursday afternoon and the are is very pleasant. The Nanche with Guayaba fruit raspa was delicious, felt very tropical lol. They also sprinkled real organic coconut flake and a touch of condensed milk made the raspa perfect. The service was great and friendly. Will definitely be back. ❤️

First time trying a raspados. It’s basically a shaped ice with some fruit pieces, a syrup and some toppings for flavours. It’s not bad, I expected something more, but it definitely fix you from the heat. Interesting!

Highly recommend both the tropical and the fresa base. Condensed milk on top is a treat, and as it melts a little bit it's even more delicious. It's somewhere between a snowcone and a fruit popsicle, and is sweet without the syrup taste.
