Fish King and Jerk Chicken

I had a few of y’all jump in my inbox about this spot! I’ve ridden by here several times, today, I noticed it, & decided to go in!! It’s that simple…LET’S GO!! . Where I am: @fishkingjerkchicken . Location Reviewed: 403 Rhode Island Ave., N.E. Washington D.C. . Items Reviewed: STAMP!! Their Jerk Chicken Platter ($12 with jerk chicken wings, rice n peas, & cabbage). Flavorful mild jerk sauce, nicely seasoned cabbage, & tasty rice with extra jerk sauce on it!! STAMP!! Their Drinks ($5 for their house made Sorrel, $7 for their house made Soursop). That was the BEST soursop I’ve ever had!! STAMP both of these drinks!! LIKE THAT! Their Sausage, Egg, & Cheese ($8 pork sausage, & a fried egg with cheese on coco bread). A classic taste, with that soft coco bread!! STAMP!! Their Curry Goat Plat

Only ordered online. Weekly lunch special - I order all three: 1. (brown stew chicken with rice and sweet plantains) 2. (Curry chicken with rice and cabbage); and 3. (Jerk chicken-very spicy- with rice and sweet plaintain). The food is consistently authentic and good. My only issue is the rice is usually dry so it would be great if they consistently send at least one small cup of brown stew gravy per meal on the side. Otherwise, the meat is exquisitely marinated, cook to where the meat falls off the bone. And the sweet plantains are tender and the rice is good as well.

During our visit to DC, I was hit with a hankering for some Caribbean food. A quick Google search led me to "Fish King!" My son & I popped in and from the moment we walked through the door, our experience was fantastic. We were warmly greeted by Eian. His energy & enthusiasm were on 10, I loved it! 🙌🏾 I told him what I was in the mood for & he broke down how the meals were structured & even made suggestions. Ultimately, I went with the Jerk Chicken dinner & my son ordered the Ox Tail dinner. I added an order of plantains, a beef patty, & we had rum cake for dessert. Our order was just over $50. "EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC!" I specifically enjoyed my Jerk Chicken! The meat was "fall-off-the-bone" tender & had just the right amount of heat for me as a spicy food lover. Everything was seaso

The gentleman that took my order was (EAN) it is the Family Business, was so polite, friendly, respectful and helpful. Ordered the Oxtail Platter, Brown Stew Chicken Platter and a Sorrel Drink, the portion size was hefty. Food was a Banger

I went into this establishment to get a lunch special at 12:00 noon so once I ordered a lunch special that they offer I was wondering why my bill was so high and when I question the bill the man told me it was too extra dollars charge to my order. Everybody know lunch special start 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. most restaurants they didn't explain to me that you will not be charged a extra dollar if you order a lunch special at 3:00 p.m.. whoever is the owner he is stupid for making up a policy like that. I left and went right to the Chinese people and got a good lunch special can't go wrong with the Chinese people
