The chicken and dumplins were amazing. I had never seen them served with the whole pieces of chicken with bones in it. Green beans and Mac and cheese also great. Rolls are rolls. They give very generous portions. My bf had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and boiled cabbage with cornbread. All wonderful. Staff were all nice and welcoming. We were just here visiting but will definitely eat here again next time we are here. I would like to say, when we walked out the door there were 2 black men trying to get people to give them money, but I guess thats to be expected in a larger city.

Took shoes to shoe man Ronnie. Then went next door to eat at Fife's restaurant 30 feet away in the same building. Ate fish. Very good! Dressing was very good! Liked the mac and cheese and cornbread as well. She had the meatloaf and said it was good too

This classic city cafe has a welcoming staff and serves home-style dishes that are generously portioned and delicious. It’s a must-visit for anyone traveling to Birmingham or simply looking for a great place to eat. Unlike other places that make their food too salty, this cafe strikes the perfect balance.

Omg so glad I have never judged a “book by its cover” so to speak. I had a little bit of a wait due to the incoming traffic of people and a lengthy line, which was moved along expeditiously to my surprise. Everything looked delicious so took me a moment to decide. I had the smothered pork chops, mashed potatoes, candied yams, and Mac and cheese😋. Got it Togo due to a long ride ahead, then decided to sample first cause people were still coming. A few in the line had great things to say about food as well. Anyways, nothing said was untrue. Everything was delicious 💖. Not even big on pork, but the chops were tender and gravy was great (could’ve been a little bigger) but maybe I just wanted more🤣. Mac was great (my fav food so I’m real skeptical about everybody’s) but they didn’t fail me. Sta

Went for breakfast and was the best! I had a sausage omelet with cheese and grits and bacon and my husband had a blt and 2 pancakes with sausage. They were all delicious! Really like the nostalgic feel of the place. Will definitely go back and want to try the dinner now, but we'll go back soon for breakfast! 😋
