Fiesta Kainan

It was our first time eating. We went during the Thanksgiving morning. The food was good, we enjoyed it but nothing special. The atmosphere and service, however, are what we really have to comment on. First, when we ordered, they asked what we wanted, so I asked how the combos work or what their usual setup is since it was our first time. The lady who assisted us was nice and warm. However, the other lady assisting the person next to us wasn’t as pleasant. When the customer asked a question, she replied, ‘Kung anu lang meron d’yan, ‘yan lang meron’ (“Whatever is here, that’s all we have”) in a bossy tone. I understand that they might be already tired since they are attending to other orders since it’s Thanksgiving but she could have been nicer. She did the same thing not only to that cust

They have been under new management for a while now. Been going here many times with the previous owners. Gave these new owners several chances. This is the last straw. New staff members are extremely rude. They will talk bad about you in Tagalog. Food is no longer good. Food was already spoiled when after tasting it. Meat was rancid! Threw that in the trash right away. What a waste!! Not worth spending your hard earned money when they talk bad about you and the food might give you food poisoning. Out of all the Filipino restaurants in the area that I’ve been to, this was the only one that would talk about you in their language. They also have some food sitting out that should be under a heat lamp of refrigerated. Who knows if they serve those items that they don’t sell the next day?!?!

Great atmosphere and great service. Lots of option to choose from. We only order entree that we never cook at home as it could be tedious. Food was delicious, fresh and hot, not too salty or oily like some other Filipino restaurants. We come to VA Beach every year and this is our second time coming here and they never disappoint.

I have been a loyal customer to Kainan for over ten years or more. Every occasions celebrated, I’ve always ordered lumpia and pancit from them. The former owner’s employees were very polite, friendly, courteous, respectful and countless more. Never once I had problems with my orders until Friday, December 19th. I called and placed an order for 100 veggie lumpia to be picked up Saturday. Decrmber 20th between 12:15-12.30. I got there 12:20 p.m., my order was not ready. Finally @ 12:40 it’s ready, When I got to work.. a colleague informed me that the lumpia is not veggies but beef or meat. I called, Arnel answered the phone (always pleasant and polite). I explained that the order was wrong and that I specifically ordered veggie lumpia. Arnel handed the phone to the person who took the order.

I really appreciated the cool atmosphere, especially since it was so hot outside. The server was friendly and attentive. The menu offered some interesting options, though there weren't a ton to choose from. I ordered the Lechon Kawali, Halo-halo, and Dinuguan. Overall, everything was good, but the Halo-halo was a bit disappointing…it tasted like the ingredients had been sitting out for a while, and there was no added sugar, so it lacked sweetness aside from the ube ice cream. The place was clean, and even though some of the chairs were ripped, they still appeared tidy.
