Fee Canister Boysen State Park Lower Wind River Location

Really beautiful spot on the river at the start of the canyon. The grounds were maintained really well. The host, Gordon, is a really nice guy. You can tell he goes above and beyond at this campground.

You can camp beside the wind River canyon. Self-pay the fees are different for non-resident $18.25 a nite for resident non-resident is higher and night.

We were driving to Cody and just happened to pass thru the most incredible canyon with a fast river surrounded on both sides by enormous walls. The railroad ran along the west side and the hi-way directly across only a few yards apart and both had numerous short tunnels. We were surprised as it as not on our maps, so after Cody/Yellowstone we had to come back. The train came thru later at night and very slowly to watch for fallen rocks on the track. Stayed several nights. Just couldn’t leave.

Located right next to the highway and directly across from the railroad tracks. The train sounds like it is coming straight through the camp and the highway is busy with semi trucks all through the night. Don’t expect to get a restful night of sleep at this campground.

Very nice state park campground in a gorgeous canyon. Very close to Thermopolis.
