Ellie Girl Poke

On my quest to eat as much poke as possible, I found this spot. I tried a 3 Choice Poke Bowl with Wasabi Mayo, Chili Crisp, Butter Garlic, Crab Mac Salad, and Pickled Daikon. Wasabi mayo is my favorite kind of poke, so I was excited they had it and it didn't disappoint. I also loved the chili crisp. It was very unique compared to other poke I've had. The butter garlic was good, but I probably would go for other choices. If you're in Hilo give this place a try!

Absolutely incredible poke - fresh fish and a mix of traditional + eclectic recipes. The spicy is the best in my humble opinion. Staff was extremely friendly. Family owned and ran business so when you eat here you support small businesses.

This poke shop is really creative and unlike other shops around. The inside looks beautiful, like something out of someone's imagination very cool interior design. The food presentation was ok. I would expect something a bit more fancy than metal containers for your main show case. Most of the poke flavors I tried were good (spicy Ahi, Korean Ahi). They had a large selection of Hawaiian sides available. The only thing I was not fond of was the large sizes of the fish and the pineapple habenaro Ahi. The large pieces would be fine but it doesn't soak up enough of the flavor. This is why traditionally the peices would be cut smaller. The pineapple habenaro sauce had no flavor or spice at all I had to make my own sauce at home with shoyu, teriyaki, and yellow bird habenaro sauce. I can definit

5 well deserved stars. I came in right before close and was met with happy, friendly, and helpful employees. The menu was simple and clear, which is appreciated. $12 for single, $17 for double, or $22 for triple. All options for Poke and sides are on display. Kapua was the one who helped me. She noticed I was having a hard time choosing, and offered samples. I might have got lucky, but she let me split my order. So, I got the double, but got to split two sides, and four smaller portions of Poke. I got the house spicy mayo, Hawaiian ahi, Kalbi ahi and the aku Hawaiian. I got the Ula mash and the mac-n-cheese for sides. Everything was great. The double was big enough for two, but on a good day, I could eat it all myself. Now for the embarrassing part. I don’t know why this place has such a high rating. The place smells like bathrooms once you stepped in. The fish they use is not very good quality. You can tell from the number of fascia in the fish. The amount of fascia from two scoops of poke is insane. The taste and texture of the poke bowl is greatly compromised. The flavor is not impressive. I’ve had way better poke bowls than this.
