El Vaquero West (Lake Monticello)

Times are a changing! This place was built on a strong work ethic and certainly a part of the community! I would always see them in the food lion when I got off of work! They have new owners and not so good as the past owners! The food was good back then! My taco supreme had plenty of beef with a very weird taste! I felt like it lake seasoning ! It had very little sour cream! The lettuce was abundant along with cheese! In the past each taco was wrapped in foil. This was displayed open , which probably made the soft shells hard and cold ! My bride enjoyed her tacos with refried beans and Mexican rice! The rice lacked flavor but beans were delicious! We did enjoy the chips , salsa and the very little amount of queso was cold ! I'm from Texas so I lean towards texmex everything. the Salas and chips were great. The burritos were okay. I can't have dairy so they practically gave me meat on a taco i wish it had something other than cheese on it I did ask for avocado to be added to the it and it was put on top of the burrito so that was strange. I put it in and then added some salsa and it was tasty. My husband enjoyed his meal and my son liked his rice and beans. The server was friendly. There were only two family's there. We went at lunch time so we waited no time to be seated.

The service and the people are extremely nice! But the food on the other hand is absolutely disgusting. I would not recommend at all! The chips tasted old, and the rice tasted re-heated… The inside of the restaurant seemed very ran down!!

Great food, fantastic (and fast) service, cold beer, decent prices. Not much more to ask for! :-)

This place is the best! The staff are always super friendly and the food always tastes amazing every single time I go. I love going here and highly recommend it to everyone!
