El Sombrero

Food was good, however the prices are completely ridiculous. By far probably the highest price for Mexican food in the area including Ruston and no specials on drinks. Margarita over $10 a combination plate with 2 items and rice and beans was $16 we went at lunch time. And it was empty. The food was good but no way was it worth the price. I would not and will not go back. Too many other Mexican restaurants in this area.

My team from work had a reservation at a different Mexican restaurant which had a plumbing issue. At the last second, El Sombrero accepted a large party of 25. They were excellent! Service & greeter were warm & inviting. My Miss Kimmy Margarita was superb & so was my friend's Sangria. Their guacamole was some of the best I've ever had. The food was vibrant & colorful. My steak fajita quesadilla tasted as good as it looked. My friend & I are making plans to return soon via Uber!

Very good authentic Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa are very good. I would advise to ask for chopped cilantro to mix into your salsa. Just trust me on that one. The portion sizes are generous and the service is outstanding. Most of them can't speak English but they can understand you enough to take a order. If you're asking questions and they don't understand they will go get an English speaking employee. Don't order wine here. They have wine it's just not good wine. I ordered a grilled chicken plate that had mushrooms and bacon covered with cheese sauce. Served with beans and rice. DELICIOUS! My daughter ordered shrimp fajitas and they were delicious. The tortillas are made fresh and are delicious. Our overall experience was a delight.

I ordered carry out my food was hot and quickly prepared. My meal was fresh and still hot when I walked back to my hotel room. I will definitely eat here again.

It was a great first experience. A huge menu to choose from. Highlight was a robot on wheels that brings chips and salsa to your table while playing mariachi music. Fantastic service with multiple table touches perfectly timed. December 2025 Update I have been back multiple times now and the service, meal quality and quantity doesn't seem to be consistent. To the point where I don't think I will be returning for the foreseeable future. Loved the gourmet Gaucamole bowl. My only regret was I put my to go box of food down on the table to put on my jacket. Was then distracted by the robot and left having forgotten about my to go box of food, which was my seafood fajitas,
