El Serrano

This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a smaller group then had a few more friends show up and they helped move us to a different area to get us all seated together. The menu is not super long but still plenty of options for a Mexican restaurant. The house margaritas were made with good tequila and not some cheap bottom shelf tequila. The food was pretty good. The spicy sauce wasn't that spicy but had a really good flavor to it. Then had to finish the meal with dessert. I got the chocolate cake, most of my party got the flan. Everyone was pleased with their meals and dessert. Nice place to go if you are looking for Mexican food in the area.

Used to be a premier Lancaster restaurant. Now it’s tired and desperately in need of new paint and stain, updated lighting, and a new chef. The spicy margarita was good, but for $15.50 it was a small glass. Food was, meh. Shrimp enchilada was plain. Covered in tomato sauce. Would have preferred a quality queso. Chicken fajitas had a lot of onions but few peppers. Server even said they hear that a lot. So why not change it. I will say the salsa was good, but overall a disappointment. It will be a long time before we come back. This place really needs a makeover.

Stopped by El Serrano for the happy hour tapas special. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The margaritas were tasty! The bar tender even made me a version without sour mix, which I really liked. There were two bartenders behind the bar, but it seemed like only one of them was responsible for those seated at the bar because the other guy wouldn't make eye contact with people at the bar. The restaurant area wasn't busy, so that was a little awkward because he was standing around while people wanted to put orders in. Overall, it was a nice happy hour experience.

We went for dinner on valentines night which was super packed. Ended up waiting for our reservation for a half hour after. Once we were sat though our server Matthew S.was 100% on top of what needed to be done. He constantly checked to make sure we had all that we needed, and did it with a smile. Food came out at a reasonable time, and our drinks were never empty. Matt was absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be coming back!

I had the stake fajitas and it was wonderful. I would order it again. The owner stopped by the table and we asked for a tour of the restaurant. He was busy but agreed. There are many private rooms ranging from 4 to 20 guests. It is decorated in a Peruvian style. The room we were in had a giant rain god statue. Some dining areas were doricated to be in an outdoor courtyard. There is an outdoor courtyard as well. The server was knowledgeable friendly and very attentive. One of our neighbors found coupons where you buy a gift certificate at a discount. This made a great value. The price would have been around $80 but we paid $45 with the certificate. I will definitely go again. If they are not busy, ask about a tour.
