I hadn’t been here in a few years and WOW!! It threw me for a loop. El Sabrason is one of the few restaurants in Williamsburg that offers pupusas the last time I had them they were small and dry…THIS TIME however!!! They got slightly bigger and greasier and if you know anything about pupusas you know the greasier the better. I don’t know if they changed cooks or what but I have been going there more often because their pupusas are so good and their food is amazing. I just tried their pineapple, chicken sandwich today and I know it sounds weird but it tasted amazing!! And the sandwich was really big! I split mine with my husband and kid.
I was insanely disappointed. I was so excited to support this Latin business but I ordered the fajitas and it was covered with oil on the bottom, burned, and the peppers on top were uncooked. My husband ordered shrimp and rice and was not impressed at all. He’s Ecuadorian and didn’t like it. My friend got the chicken and said it was flavorless and dry.
Looks are deceiving the place looks small from the outside.once inside the place feels comfortable and authentic and then you are hit with a array of Aromas ..smelling some good home cooking. Main dish was excellent . desert was great too service was excellent .the only con was the fountain soda .stay away get canned or a Malta. Great place chicken is awesome..thanks will come again almost forgot the most important part was the puposas the best I ever had ..
Don't be warry going into the restaurant, aesthetically it's not very pleasing but as Salvadoran I can say the pupusas were very good and authentic. The salsa and curtido were a little bland, I'd also recommend the horchata it is very authentic and not over sweet but over all an amazing experience. Definitely great for a gluten free option.
They get one star foor puousas. They are very tasty everything elso...We ordered a "rotisserie" chicken I believe they dug in the back of their fridge and threw this in the oven. See picture . The rice was raw with crunchy pieces in it. Yuck. Ordered guac with NO spicy , it had great big chunks of jalapeños. Nope.
