El Río Grande Mexican Restaurant

Driving back up to Virginia we were looking for a good place to stop for my kids and I was so impressed with everything the decorations the cozy energy extremely friendly staff even though they were busy and were big party they quickly sat us and we chips and salsa. The test for me is good salsa rice and beans and per my kids they wished they could eat more. My enchiladas suizas were amazing my husband's camarones a la diabla were just perfect.bthis will my go to stop when driving down to the Carolinas and Georgia.

Driving home from Florida we stayed in Lumberton and looked for a Mexican Restaurant. There were a few close to our motel. We drove to one and walked inside and it just didn’t feel good. So we ended up at El Rio Grande. A friend met us there for dinner. It’s in a strip mall so it has lots of parking but no aesthetics. The food was good with a large selection to pick from. It seems to have a good local following. There was one group of about 20 people sitting at a long table. The service was great. The server came over many times to check if we needed anything. While they had an alright selection of tequila they didn’t have any bubbly water (Topo Chico, Pelegrina) so we asked if we could bring some in to mix our own drinks. We ordered four shots of Casamigos Tequila and asked for 3 glasses

I ordered “Little Bit of Everything” off their menu and when it came out I noticed that the meat and cheese I got tasted very closely to a Philly cheesesteak and I was very unimpressed. When I got my chimichanga and enchilada they were both dry and drenched in sauce. I’m not saying you shouldn’t eat here just be careful with what you order. From other people in my party quesadillas were good.

I would just like to say had a bad experience there today this was the third time I had been there I wasn't impressed the first two times but I'm always willing to give everybody another chance so I stopped in to order a vegetarian plate and take home when I got there nobody had said nothing so I walked on up to the bar I was going to order a drink which I haven't drunk in about a year so I asked for a menu for the drinks well the guy finally comes back and asked me where you going to order anything and I said yes I'm waiting on the menu oh he said I forgot then he gives it to me I'm sorry us older people can't see the menus good was taking a little time and then the guy comes back and tells me I guess it was the boss that I needed to leave if I wasn't ordered really this is when I become

Overall this is a great place to eat. Food is good n the prices are even better. Watch out if you order lunch specials n they have them for dinner. Several employees ring you up for the dinner prices instead of lunch 😘
