Customer Reviews
The food and service was great, but the owner’s behavior was surprisingly rude. I didn’t know that outside food isn’t allowed in Minnesota, but it’s easy for customers to miss posted signs, and the situation could have been handled much more respectfully and professionally. My wife, who is Filipina, usually carries a small amount of jasmine rice when we eat out. She is a tiny little person — less than 4 feet tall and under 50 pounds — and the way the owner confronted her genuinely scared her. Shortly after we had started our meal, he came over and, in a loud and confrontational tone, told her to put it away because of the sign at the entrance. A simple, polite explanation would have been enough. Instead, he drew unwanted attention to our table, which was both embarrassing and unnecessary.
Very good and authentic Mexican food! I also got some fresh house made hot sauce and it had great flavor and not too much heat! They give big portions and everyone agreed the food was awesome!
We will not be returning to El Rancho. This was our first time eating there, and we did not like the atmosphere. The staff seemed unhappy or tired, though the person who served us was nice and spoke English well. While the food was okay, the owner was incredibly rude. He lacked any manners in how he approached customers. We had just started eating when he came to our table and began yelling so loudly that the entire restaurant could hear him. I had brought a small amount of my own rice (about 3 spoonful), and he shouted that it was not allowed. He could have easily spoken to us in a polite manner. I was so shaken up that I couldn't finish my meal; I got nervous and decided to pack up and leave.
Amazing food. We stopped on our way back to SD from Minneapolis- and it will now be a regular stop. The food was phenomenal, the service wonderful, and the atmosphere lovely. If your are getting older like myself- bring your readers because the menu is huge and you don't want to miss a thing (the lower lighting makes it hard to read, but so worth it.) I got the rancho steak quesedilla and it was so good. My only regret was not ordering guacamole. Next time we will try the cheese dip. My entire family loved it and everything we ordered.
Excellent Mexican cuisine! Vegetarian tacos were delicious. 🌮 Free tortilla chips and salsa for appetizer! Server was super respectful and attentive, and the food was cooked and brought to the table in a jiffy! My mother and daughter enjoyed their entrees as well, and everyone left very full.
