El Idolo Restaurant - Ecuadorian Food

I have definitely learned to appreciate Ecuadorian food more because of this place. Have gone here a few times with my family and we’ve enjoyed everything. Eating here gives my wife a taste of home and that adds to how good this place is. Only thing I’d critique is the staff be a little more attentive, we waited a while for the food and to get the check.

My husband was craving Ecuadorian food, and since his mom lives all the way in Queens, NY — and I haven’t quite mastered those dishes yet — we decided to take a trip down to Norwalk after seeing the mouthwatering photos from El Idolo. The menu, especially the “specials,” had some nostalgic favorites that caught my husband’s eye. I was especially excited for the Bolón de Verde, my favorite Ecuadorian breakfast that’s very similar to a Dominican mofongo. We ordered it as an appetizer, and wow — not only was the portion size much larger than expected, but it was just as incredible as the ones I’ve had in Ecuador. I’m glad I found this gem.! The food tasted just like home 🥹 rip dad. The guatita was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. The caldo de bolas 🤤 everything was great from the service to the food and cleanliness of the location.! I will definitely be back.!!!

Mistakenly ordered from here and not the one near me. Asked me for credit card over the phone. I called back and told them it was a mistake and they wouldn’t refund me. I lost $80. Scammers.

First time visiting Connecticut and visit with this delicious restaurant..I must say the food was excellent..I will definitely go back. But reading the reviews of many customers. I hope that my friends didn't get cheated paying the bill !! I didn't see the bill because they refused for us to paided. When we go back I will be checking the bill and the charge of tips.
