I’ve been here twice and I can say the food is certainly authentic. We are enjoying some of the best Latin American cuisines at “El Guayas” restaurant. It’s always been a toss up between Ecuador and Peru for the best South American food for me and I’m happy I found this place. A lot of the food requires a very lengthy preparation and I’m honestly too lazy for it. El Guayas has not taken any short cuts with the authentic recipes.
Excellent, fresh food. Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable environment. Fresh squeezed juice.
While the food is good, I think that they should let the customers first about the 15% service charge. This is for sitting in their restaurant. I'm sorry but the table and chairs aren't even clean and comfortable for you to charge people 15%. I could go to a cozy restaurant for the same price you charged my family because of the 15%. We've added tips of course because it's not the servers fault. I just wished they let us know beforehand.
The food was alright, nothing too amazing, as someone native to the area where this food is typical from. The chicken drumstick in my stew came with the bone harshly broken up; the waitress refused to change it. The churrasco asado was ok, but overcooked. Overall way too expensive for what you are getting. A main issue was that, as evidenced by the pictures of the menu and the receipt, I was charged $4 for each Ecuadorian soda, while the menu had a price of $2/$2.5. This is ridiculous and the main reason for my 1 star review. If they had communicated correctly the price of the drinks from the start, I would not have purchased 3 sodas. The server refused to honor the prices written in the menu after my pushback. In fact she had the gall to say that she didn't charge us for the tap water I
Only Ecua restaurante near me & it doesn’t disappoint! Bollo mixto was so good ! Empanadas verde are a must , a little pricey but a must
