El Gordo Restaurant

I ate the Jalea at this place. I'm Peruvian so I have had that dish in MANY restaurants throughout my life. This was by far THE WORST rendition of jalea that I have EVER had. It was exaggeratedly salty, they didn't include any baby squid, they didn't include any mussels, there were a total of 3 shrimp in the entire thing, and they gave me a tiny little bit of red onion salad that wasn't even enough to eat with half of the dish. Aside from all that, it's obvious that they don't care about their seasoning or presentation. It was disgusting. Peruvian food is some of the most delicious in the world, and somehow they manage to even mess up the "aji verde" by making it watery and tasteless. It didn't even have any spice to it or "kick." It was just green watery salt. DISGUSTING.

This place has some of the best Peruvian food. I been eating at other places and man this just hit the spot, absolutely amazing. I see people complaining about the service which I don’t know I was greeted with great attitude the guy and the lady who took take of my order were very helpful I like to threat people like I want to be treated I guess that helps but the food was great I’m a new customer definitely 👍👏

Came to enjoy some authentic Peruvian cuisine. Left disappointed. For starters the chicha morrada is not house made, packaged and pre bottled. The food looked appetizing but when it came down to taste, it lacked freshness and flavor. In the past pre pandemic food was really good, but quality has gone down. We dined in and weren’t that wowed by the food. There are other fresher and tastier Peruvian food options in the area. Service was okay. Food lacked soul, and honestly were let down this time.

Absolutely unacceptable. We ordered two orders of white quarter chicken (breast part) with white rice and extra sauce for pick up. We received dark meat. Now this isn’t the first time this occurred. Last time we received one dark and one white quarter chicken which we just let it go. Now this time around we received two dark meat quarters chicken which we specifically indicated on the phone we wanted white meat. I called to request them to exchange it to the correct order. The guy said he didn’t speak English and when they finally understood they said they can’t switch it.How is it that it’s ok for the restaurant to make a mistake and they couldn’t correct it. Unacceptable. I don’t recommend this place.

The restaurant used to be really good. But for the past few years has been severely lacking. Not only are the prices insane, the food is mediocre at best. I had the causa de atun and it was so bad. I didn't think I could ever taste a bad causa but this one was it. It wasn't even the atun, it was the actual potato. I also got the arroz con pollo con huancaina and was sadly very disappointed. They skimped me so bad on the huancaina and the chicken was so dry. Pretty upset I spent $26 on such bad food.
