El Gallo Negro 2

I found this place on a whim last minute! So glad we did! The chicken & steak tacos were delicious. Flavorful & not dry. Shrimp taco, was huge & the shrimp fried? I’ll pass on the shrimp tacos, my friend did not anticipate them too be fried either, we did not see that mentioned on the menu. Grilled would be better. Rice and beans were good! We also tried the horchata! So good! I would definitely come back here if I lived locally! The only negative here was the service. It seemed the to go orders were priority over the people sitting in the restaurant. We waited a while, while the rest of the orders seemed to be cleared out. Nonetheless, I would return if I was ever in the area.

El Gallo Negro 2 is one of the best Mexican restaurants in College Point — a true hidden gem with incredible food and warm, friendly service. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere and aroma of freshly cooked dishes make you feel right at home. The food is top quality and full of authentic flavor. The Molcajete de Carnes is a must-try — sizzling hot, loaded with grilled steak, chicken, chorizo, and melted cheese. The Birria tacos are juicy and flavorful, especially when dipped in the rich consomé. Portions are generous, presentation is beautiful, and everything tastes freshly made. Service is consistently excellent — professional, attentive, and always with a smile. The staff really cares that you enjoy your meal. Prices are very fair for the quality and size of the portions

Authentic, Authentic. Good food, good atmosphere, super nice host. The music takes your imagination for a ride like you actually was in a restaurant in playa del Carmen sitting on the outdoor patio. Like I said the imagination goes off with the atmosphere and the music........😍. We will be coming back for more.

This is my favorite place to go. The food is soooo super delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable with mostly booths to sit in and a row of tables down the middle for larger groups. Tasteful contemporary latin music is played in the bacground that makes you feel alive. I am never disappointed. I've been here a handful of times, but that will change because this will definitely be my go to place to eat from now on. The server Alejandra is super friendly and very attentive to your needs, making sure that your meal is the best possible meal ever. Give this place a try and I promise you that you will love it like I do. I'm hungry, see you there.😋🍛😋🌮😋🌯 P.S. - the picture is empty because we are late eaters and usually go around closing.

Went here with the family after running some errands in the area. We had an amazing time. Family atmosphere. A hidden gem. Authentic Mexican food hands down. The food was delicious it took me back to childhood. The drinks were strong yet very refreshing and enjoyable. Staff were very attentive. We will be coming back here often.
