One of the best deals in Denver! The pupusas are LARGE, accompanied with fresh salsa and slaw, and very tasty. A little Spanish will help in this Little San Salvador on a pretty rough stretch of Colfax. Once you’re in the door though they have lots of products in the shop, plus a full service restaurant for all things El Salvador.
Every time I’m in Denver I stop here. I don’t even debate it, especially if I’m coming through i70. I traveled a lot and I’ve tried pupusas in so many places hoping something would hit the same and most of them just don’t. But this place does. The first bite triggers something in me instantly, like I’m a kid again in El Salvador. It’s that exact flavor I grew up with and honestly thought I might never find again out here. The masa tastes right, the filling tastes right. The salsa isn’t watered down is just right and I can’t fully explain it but it hits deeper than just “this is good food” it feels like a piece of home I get to revisit every time I’m in Denver and that’s why this place is special to me.
As authentic as it gets for Salvadoran food. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. Happy I found a place with all my Salvadoran favorites. The caldo de pollo and típico breakfast were on point. Not a fancy place or neighborhood but worth the adventure for the food.
I have driven by this place so many times and kept meaning to stop. My daughter and I didn't have anything going on so we did. It was amazing. I had the El Salvadorian breakfast with eggs, rice and beans, plantains cheese, and a sour cream that all work together to be. Probably the best thing I've eaten this month. It was quite busy with the after church and mid-morning Sunday crowd. Still got a table fairly quickly. I was sad as I saw cebada was on the menu but sadly not present. Only put a momentary damper on the incredible tasty, Superior service, amazing Sunday morning breakfast brunch experience. Do yourself a favor. Don't wait 10 years like I did.
New fav gem! Home cooking that is so tasty and affordable!! So many vegan options! Got horchata with no milk, bean burrito, corn tamale, side of plantains and beans & rice. Portions were HUGE and prices were small. I assumed everything would be smaller bcs of how cheap it was. Server was super sweet and answered all our questions and all the food was out in less than 15 min. Friends got other options and all had leftovers. Beans are so flavorful, plantains cooked to perfection and the corn tamale was simple but tasted so good. Will be back.
