Egg Harbor City Branch - Atlantic County Library System

Today, my 12-year-old sister and I were at the library enjoying some time coloring together we were there for like 2 hours and then, She stepped out to use the bathroom, and when she returned, the entire area suddenly smelled like weed. The smell was so strong that everyone noticed it. However, instead of investigating the situation properly, one of the staff members unfairly accused my sister of being responsible for the smell and kicked us out. What’s worse is that they didn't ask anyone else to leave—only us, which felt like a racial thing. Following my mother’s advice, I returned to the library to ask why we were singled out. I recorded the conversation, and one staff member denied ever asking us to leave, claiming it was just a lingering smell. Another staff member was extremely rude

I normally check books out on Libby so I can read them on my kindle but a book I wanted was not available so I put a hold on it. I got a email that it was ready so I went over I did not realize I got there at 12 which is right when they open. The young lady who works there was just getting there and rushed inside telling me we’re not open yet and then shut the door in my face. I get it I got there right when you opened but your technically open maybe you need to get to work earlier. I would have gladly stood there and waited for her to boot up the computer or whatever but the fact that she shut the door on me when I was on time was rude.

The librarians were friendly and helpful but extremly talkative. There was no way a person could concentrate with so much talking going between them, so we decided to leave. What ever happened to the quiet and peaceful libraries?

The one librarian was very rude and had an attitude. Maybe I caught her on a bad day but either way I will be going to the Mays Landing branch from now on.

Cute little library! Loved that they had an ongoing book sale, but silly they aren't accepting donations for the sale due to covid.
