Econo Lodge Valley City

In August I signed a group contract for a block of rooms, knowing the hotel had a restaurant, bar and a good breakfast. I also I made a reservation for myself through the Choice website. We have stayed there multiple times and requested the same king suite. And recommended the hotel to my friends when we attended multiple functions in the city. I heard that the bar/restaurant closed and was assured they should be opened again by our stay. If I would have known, otherwise, we could have moved to a different hotel. When I was checking in I was informed the room I reserved, months in advance was taken, they had to move us to a different room. This room is absolutely disgusting. We got there and went into our room area and hotel seemed already a little sketchy. When we checked our room is was not clean and not pleasant at all. There was trash on the outside and an old grill outside out room.So, we went to go get a different room and their manager told us that people have been staying in them for over a year. When we got into our new room it was even worse then our first one so we went back and got a full refund and stayed at another hotel in town. They claim our rooms weren’t bad at all but these pictures show otherwise.

Positive: If you can make it to the next town I’d suggest you drive the extra miles. Graveyard lady was nice. Negative: Front desk guy was rude, cold and lazy. All ice machines were broke. Injured housekeeper said there was a bag of ice but front desk guy did nothing to help her. Room was filthy, mold in bathroom, stains on carpet and couch, got bug bites. Yuck!

No breakfast in the morning - I was there last year and they had an awesome breakfast in the morning. No blow dryer in my room. The bathroom fan rattled so had to turn it on all night to stop the rattling. Ice machine was broke down. So overall - stayed at a hotel with no perks.

The woman that checked us in did a good job even though she was very busy! Floor was dirty in the room. Went to the front desk and someone came and vacuumed it very poorly. We turned on the heater Friday night and the smoke alarm went off and the room stunk something fierce. Went to the front desk, was told they can't stink because they were just cleaned and the snooty lady said "just turn it to auto fan and leave the windows open for 15 minutes and the smell "should go away". It smelled so horrible the first time so I just went without heat. We also had a guest neighbor with a baby so i was not going to set off the smoke alarm again! Mentioned this (and a few other problems with the room) on checkout again and the same worker said "they all stink the first time you turn them on"! Kno
