Durham House B & B Inn

We have stayed at this beautiful and historic Victorian home 4 times and in four seasons. We have stayed in various rooms and all have been a delight. The grounds are amazing with a wide variety of trees and plants, garden sculptures,and unique works of art. Cheryl and James are wonderful hosts and the breakfast always delicious. The swimming pool is a plus for those hot summer days. As a professional photographer I just love strolling the grounds photographing the beauty that is here. Having to travel to the chico area several times a year, staying here is our first choice . Also in Durham there is a fantastic mexican restaurant as well as a wonderful winery.

My husband and I can’t rave enough about our wedding in the gardens of the Durham House Inn! It was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. Something intimate and cozy. Something that felt like a well loved home! The Innkeepers, James and Cheryl, were so accomodating to anything we might need! Since we wanted a Fall wedding, we chose early November but knew we would risk rain. Luckily the rain stopped in the morning but James and Cheryl were both there for whatever we needed to make sure our guests were comfortable! It worked out perfectly for us to stay the night in the cottage with part of our bridal party staying in the rooms of the Inn. We got so many compliments from our guests on the charm of the venue!! It’s like a secret garden in there under the canopy coverage.

I had my wedding here this past June and I have nothing but great things to say about the owners, James and Cheryl, and their beautiful bed and breakfast. The grounds are stunning with so many beautiful photo opportunities and spaces to set up a ceremony, reception, dance floor, bar, etc. James and Cheryl were so accommodating and helpful when it came to the wedding planning and hosting my family in the main house. Everyone loved staying in the beautifully curated rooms and enjoyed the breakfasts Cheryl prepared each morning. The cottage was equally as beautiful and intimate. My only regret is that we did not have enough time to enjoy the pool! If you are looking for a historic, romantic, and verdant wedding venue, then look no further!

After visiting just about every venue in Butte county, we decided to have our wedding here in September 2021. James and Cheryl were so friendly and accommodating to our needs throughout the entire process. The gardens are stunning during the day and pure magic at night, and there are endless opportunities for gorgeous photos. Durham House is Chico's best kept wedding secret.

We rented out the entire B&B (3 bedrooms each with a private bathroom and patio), including the adorable 1 bedroom detached guest house for our wedding weekend. The parents of the bride and groom, as well as the siblings stayed in the main house, while we used the guest house as the bridal suite. Cheryl and James (owners- live on site) were absolutely fabulous. Cheryl was so warm and really made us feel welcome and so well taken care of. And oh my lord can she cook!
