Customer Reviews
Overall, this is a solid spot for seafood with good food, good service, and a great view. We started with appetizers and they did not disappoint. The crab dip was rich and flavorful, the bacon-wrapped scallop was perfectly cooked and indulgent, and the calamari was crispy and well-seasoned. Highly recommend ordering the triple chowder if you’re undecided. It’s a fun way to try everything, and the lobster chowder was easily my favorite with its creamy, comforting depth. For mains, the salmon pasta was excellent and definitely a standout. It was creamy, well-balanced, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the chef’s special macadamia-crusted fish missed the mark. It was quite bland, and the macadamia crust didn’t complement the fish well, making it the weakest dish of the meal. Service was atten
Duke's never disappoints!! Although the chowders have changed a bit over the years, the ambiance and level of service has remained consistent. If you ate there years ago, you can be assured it will be relatively the same when you return! Very friendly hostess, smiles and welcomes when we arrived for a late lunch, early dinner on a weekday. We were sat right away at the perfect window seat where we even got to enjoy a fireboat show! First things first, the chowder! I've always ordered the chowder sampler (think they used to have 4) and this time was no different! Three completely unique and different chowders with my favorite being the Lobster, a bit sweet, super thick and very rich! The Crabby Deviled Egg was perfection, could have eaten half a dozen of them, with a creamy filling and just
Made a reservation here for Valentine's weekend. Couldn't get in on the day of Valentine's, every place was booked. Duke's was a good choice for this occasion. The place is right on the water. I ordered the stuffed lobster, so good! The lobster was done right, just melts in your mouth. Great choice for dinner. My husband had the fish and chips. Had a small bowl of seafood chowder, it doesn't disappoint. We had some appetizers. Now the bacon-wrapped shrimp, I would say it could be a little bit better. They are not as fine as described in the menu. The crab cake was very tasty. I would say, when we visit Gig Harbor again, we will come back to Duke's again for sure.
If being well-fed and genuinely cared for were an Olympic sport, Duke’s Chowder House in Tacoma would be taking home the gold. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding — the hostess, our waiters, and even the manager checked in to make sure we were happy, comfortable, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Not in an overwhelming way… just the perfect “we’ve got you” kind of way. Now let’s talk food. The lobster roll? Delicious. The halibut? Cooked perfectly. The seafood chowder? So good it deserves its own fan club. And the carrot cake for dessert was the kind of ending that makes you pause, smile, and question why you don’t eat carrot cake more often. Amazing service, incredible food, and an experience that made us feel truly taken care of. I’ll absolutely be back — probab
Amazing place to grab some dinner along the shoreline! First time here and it did not disappoint! Staff were super friendly and full of recommendations! We shared the filet off the hot sheet and the stuffed halibut off the regular menu! Both delicious! We enjoyed a Caesar salad and a chowder + a Hiyo Social Tonic! All while admiring the bay! We will be back! Thank you for a great evening!
