Downtown Bagels Inc.

I’ve been going to Downtown Bagel for years, and unfortunately the customer service has never been good. There’s no greeting at all — no good morning or good afternoon. Today I ordered three bagels: two with egg and bacon and one toasted with butter, along with a tea and an orange juice, which totaled close to $20. They forgot the toasted bagel with butter, so I had to place another order. When I asked if I had already been charged for it, the employee said he couldn’t remember. I ended up paying close to $24, and I couldn’t justify the total because I was not given a receipt when I paid. Prices aren’t posted on the menu board, and with mistakes on the order, the cost is hard to justify . Very disappointing.

Not sure what has happened but Downtown Bagel looks like it's on its way Out of Town! The bagels are not the same anymore. I think the place has new owners that don't have a clue as well as the baker. They used to be the best water bagels. Now I think they are steaming and baking. Also the baker is not fully mixing the dough. Example: pumpernickel looks like a mixed plain and pumpernickel, as well as big fat and bloated. Bring back Sal! Harry is rolling over in his grave! Bring back the original water bagels to Downtown Bagel! Stop being so cheap and profit oriented. Charge the extra buck and give them the good stuff!

Did not care for my experience today at Downtown Bagels. Usually there is a very nice Italian guy running the place but I don’t know if the business changed hands or what but the service i received today was anything but friendly. The woman with the salt and pepper hair is rude and not customer friendly. She should not be at the counter taking orders. She didn’t even greet me and when i went to pay she didn’t even tell me the total and didn’t even say anything to me when giving me my change. Very unfriendly and rude! Then the bagels were old and stale, did not taste fresh at all. The bagels were well known for being fresh and have that crunch when you eat it but that was not the case. The bread was hard to bite down on and tasted like it was a day old. There were two guys cooking the food

Middletown is blessed to have this place. And so is plant Earth. This place doesn’t serve bagels. They serve nirvana in a little brown bag. Get the bacon, egg, and cheese and you may have to call your wife and tell her you’re moving to be closer to this place. Bring cash, they don’t take card.

This is our go to Bagel spot and has been for many years. The staff knows us by name and are always upbeat, friendly and kind. Despite being cash only it is very busy and worth every penny.
