I LOVE this golf course! I went for the first time in 2023 and wanted to go back as often as I could. It is a hidden gem, comparable to the “big fancy” courses that will cost you over $100 per player in challenging holes and aesthetics. Honestly some of those holes… they best even the greatest golfers (I’m talking about myself … kidding, hehe). I encountered some health problems within my nervous system in mid 2024, which brought disaster to my life. I lost my mobility, my dexterity, my energy, my mind a little bit, my career, and my life as I knew it would never be the same. I’ve been working on trying to get my life back, and a big part of it is golf, and the biggest win for me was going to Downing Farms on Friday the 19th in the afternoon. It pains me to write this because I've been coming out here for years. The owners and staff have always given me a great experience until today. I made a tee time on a Sunday morning and was told over the phone that I could walk. Older gentleman working the counter told me upon arrival that I wouldn't be allowed to walk because they recently had a slow foursome of walkers and now none are allowed on the weekend. Again I hate to complain online about a family business like this but this customer service was a waste of my time and unacceptable as a long time customer. I am now in the parking lot at Fox hills about to pay more to walk than I would to ride at downing. I would like to hear from the owner (not the gentleman at the counter) to discuss this soon. It’s a fun course for amateurs. There are wide open fairways but also few very short Par 3s. It’s bit far away but the pricing is reasonable. Some holes have rather narrow fairways so bring lots of balls. To me the most ‘memorable’ hole is the one tee box with carpet!!! See pic
