Douglas County Libraries: Highlands Ranch

I needed to return a book and didn’t realize I had entered this particular Douglas County libraries branch into my GPS until I was getting close. Had a good selection. Lot of nooks. Layout was interesting. Parking lot is a bit funky to navigate, there’s a sign saying what to do if it’s full. I might keep this library in mind if I need a study room next semester.

If you are into reading, like really into reading, then let me introduce you to the promised land: the Highlands Ranch branch of Douglas County Libraries. This place doesn’t just have books, it has all the books. I’m not saying they have every single book ever written in the history of humanity… but I’m also not not saying that. If there’s a topic you’re curious about, 19th century naval warfare? Artisan sourdough? The emotional journey of houseplants? chances are they’ve got an entire shelf dedicated to it. And the words, so many words. I’m fairly certain if you stacked all the words in this building end-to-end, they’d stretch from Highlands Ranch to somewhere impressive, possibly the moon, or at least Castle Rock. Great library for children. They have a large children's book section with a large play area (prentend marketplace). They have story hour everyday for the different age groups, and the storyteller is very interactive. Also, they allow you to take out up to 200 units at a time! The grounds are well kept, and there is a playground and park there too. We like to bring our lunch and have a picnic outside after we visit the library. We read our books outside. The staff is very friendly, and the hold process is easy. They also offer so many other things when you get a card. For example, you can get free passes to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. To be honest, I haven't checked out the other sections, but I would definitely make this place a regular weekly stop if you have young childre

favorite library. great selection of books and the seating in here is really, really good. there are so many different kinds of chairs to sit in! it’s finals week and you have to study for hours on end without distraction? sit in one of the study rooms with the big tables. you want to lounge in a comfy chair and read by the fire? sit in one of their comfortable chairs by the fire. you want a desk and outlet for work or school or whatever you’re doing? sit at those cool, squiggly cubicle desk things or the square tables by the window. they’ve got it all, really. whoever decorated for christmas also needs a raise, because the themed christmas trees and the book tree thing upstairs are works of art and really add to the coziness. i owe my sanity to this place<3 xoxo

Very lovely large clean library. Parking lot is a little funky. A few shady spots to park. Could get busy considering there’s a little playground right next to the library. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful that’s not a quiet library there’s tons of kids causing all kinds of commotion most of the days
