Dixie Express

Drive through only. A staple in Asheboro. Before there was Cookout, we had Dixie Express. Love coming here whenever I’m in town. One of the few places to get a meal under $10.

Awhile back I found a long hair BAKED into my onion rings from this location. I didn’t go there for a long time but there sanitation rating improved so I tried again. Only got three chicken tenders instead of four and then found hair in the ranch. So. On top of that the service is painfully slow, I know they make the food to order but good grief. Also being served by folks with super long nails seems unsanitary, but hair is truly the worst.

I’ve passed by there a million times and finally stopped today. I got the bacon cheeseburger fry and Coke meal. The hamburger patty was hot and the cheese was actually melted on it, the bacon tasted freshly cooked and the bun was toasted. The fries were also hot. Needless to say, I will be back.

This place is always a reliable place to get food from. Definitely the better option of surrounding restaurants. Their hot dogs are amazing along with their burgers. They have great milkshakes as well. Make sure to stop in if you're around the area. Also make sure to grab their mac and cheese bites.
