Very well appointed Mexican restaurant in University City on North and South just off Delmar. First, the good news: The chicken burrito was excellent. The way they prepare the chicken. It’s very moist and really flavorful. The fajita bowl was also very good. Will definitely be back for that for the flavor and since it’s really healthy. Now why they don’t get five stars: Caveat: grew up eating Mexican Food in Colorado. I have very high standards. Someone would call me picky. I agree with some of the other reviews. The salsa is pretty boring and really heavy on tomato. No heat at all that I could taste. The chicken burrito comes with rice inside the burrito, which I don’t really like, so I asked for the rice on the side which they were more than willing to accommodate. + The problem i
My wife and I both agreed that the Spicy Pineapple Margarita was the best drink we’ve ever had. The perfect amount of spicy, mixed with the sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the rim couldn’t have been better. I can’t say the food was “the best we’ve ever had” but it was very good. My wife got the vegan quesadilla with black beans and she loved it. I tried it myself and was very impressed with it, especially considering it was vegan. I got the Carnitas Street Tacos and Costra de Camaron Tacos and both were delicious. This was our second visit and while the first visit was good enough to bring us back, the second visit really sold us and will keep us coming back for a long time! Can’t wait to get back and have a couple margaritas.
We kicked off our Tour de Tacos at Diego’s Cantina y Cocina, and let me just say—they understood the assignment. From the bold flavors to the literal fire at our table, this place delivered. We sat inside where the A/C was strong, the margaritas were stronger, and the vibes were just right. The service? Friendly, fast, and happy to set our cheese on fire for dramatic effect. 🔥 Yes, they lit our queso flameado on fire. At the table. With flair. It was a full-on performance, and we were living for it. We may or may not have shouted “Opa!” in honor of Momos, the Greek spot that used to live in that building. Old habits die hard. What we devoured: – Queso flameado (melty, smoky, sizzling hot drama) – Loaded bean dip (a sleeper hit—don’t skip it) – Costra de pollo (crispy cheese, juicy chick
Horrible service. It took an hour just to get one glass of wine, which should have been the first sign of how the rest of the night was going to go. When the food finally arrived after nearly two hours of waiting, it was cold and clearly had been sitting for a while. To make things worse, they automatically charged a 20% tip after that kind of experience, which felt completely unreasonable considering the level of service. Throughout the entire time we were there, we watched multiple tables get up and walk around the restaurant trying to track down their server just to get basic things—boxes, refills, or even their check. After paying, several people even had to go searching again to find where their checks went. It honestly felt chaotic and poorly managed. Waiting that long for cold foo
Food was tasty and fresh. Main dishes Portions are a bit small, so you might want to consider ordering something shareable or a side tacos. The margaritas are great, don’t miss them!
