Words cannot explain how professional they are let me not start on the food but just amazing I can honestly say I have tried everything on their menu and 10/10 never had a bad experience even when I ate their food years ago it just keeps getting better. If you can stop by or order online you will not be disappointed. Last thing there are plenty African cuisine spots in Philadelphia but none of them compare to the authenticity of the dishes they prepare over there at DF.
Not sure what all the bad reviews are about? I have ZERO complaints! The owner, and who I assumed was her daughter, were very kind and pleasant to interact with. I ordered a small Vegan platter of Jollof Rice, Sweet Plantains, and Spinach, as well as an order of Puff Puffs. The food was fresh, hot, delicious, generous portion, packaged with care, and made with love! I’d definitely eat here again. The music was great too! I had about a 10-15 min wait on the food but that’s not a complaint, it’s FRESH food!! My Puff Puffs were NOT greasy at all, it was literally doughnut texture/flavor without the frosting. I’ve tried Jollof Rice once in the past at a different location and wasn’t a fan because it was just pure oil/grease but DF’s rice was the PERFECT TEXTURE and not greasy at all!! TRY THIS
I ordered a small jallof rice meal with jerk chicken and fried plantain. The Food was not good. Meat was dry and mostly bone although had a potential to have good flavor. The rice was overly smoked tasted bitter and burnt. The portion size is terrible I got 2 fragments of chicken. Not even a full piece, rice, and 2 small pieces of plantain. It was not worth $11. I will not be coming back and should’ve just went somewhere else, but I wanted to take a chance. The service was nice and music was great though.
I had to call the owner and rave about the pepper soup!!! It had an authentic and distinct flavor that i haven’t tasted in any of the Nigerian restaurants in the city!!! And I’ve been to just about all of them. I also ordered the Egusi soup and black eyed peas. The food was really delicious!! I highly recommend you give them a try. You won’t be disappointed
The food here is so bomb! I always get the jollof rice and oxtail or chicken with spinach and plantains. It’s soooo good!! Y’all should definitely check it out. I’ve hunting for good Nigerian food in Philly and she definitely has it.
