Backseat on the way home and couldn’t wait to write this. Detroit Jollof is nourishment. Every texture was on point — the Egusi was rich and deeply savory, the Fufu smooth and perfectly done, and the Jollof was fluffy with a beautiful medium spice level. It was balanced and flavorful without being overwhelming, which honestly makes me want to come back and try the spicy version. The Plantains were sweet, caramelized, and the perfect finish. This meal felt sacred. Food for the soul. My ancestors hollered holy asé. We’ll definitely be back.
This is the best Nigerian food in michigan, period. I see people on here talking about Fork in Nigeria, they had been my main source of Nigerian food due to limited options but the inconsistency made me leave them permanently. They dont hold a candle to Detroit jollof. I also see people complaining about time to get food. This food is fresh. This is not mcdonlads or burger king, you can tell they use quality ingredients and its made daily. So if time is what you are worried about, order ahead. I use Uber eats and usually wait about 45 mins, mind you my home is 30mins away from the restaurant so logic tells me it will take awhile to get to me. Its worth the wait, everything is fresh, tastes just like my wifes food when she cooks. Mackerel is amazing, meat pies even better, tried a few i
Food is extremely good! Great portions. If you won’t authentic Nigerian food this is the place. Only thing I’ll say is the wait time is pretty long in person and on Uber Eats . Expect to wait 40 mins to and 1 hr after you order.
Kemi’s food reminds me of home, the jollof rice is nice and smoky and the Titus fish and stew are so yummy! Moi moi, meatpie and chin and chin are so also really good! I highly recommend!
I had such an amazing experience at Detroit Jollof! This new African restaurant in Detroit is definitely a gem. The Jollof rice was flavorful, the plantains were perfectly fried, and the grilled chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, just like home-cooked Nigerian food. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the vibe of the restaurant makes it a great spot for takeout. If you’re looking for authentic West African food in Detroit—especially Nigerian Jollof rice, suya, and fried plantains—this is the place to go. Highly recommend Detroit Jollof for anyone in Metro Detroit, Southfield, or Dearborn who loves delicious African cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
