Deset Ethiopian Restaurant

I walked in Deset, EThiopian Reastaurant today the one that near to Georgia Ave. Washington DC, around 3pm. I went this restaurant previosly not more than coupls of times and I had no complaint .But today was not the same service. First of all, forgete smiling, no greetings, no eye contact even they were struggling not to look towards me. But still even I was okay with their poor curtiosy so I found a chair and seat by myself. Then I ordered one meal for to-go but i changed my mind rightaway to enjoy the food in the restaurant. After a while a young girl brought the food with a take away package. I said, I changed my mind right away why you put it inside the box? then one old guy approached me and said 'i did it just eat it, it is okay'. None of them showed me sense of appology. IN aditio

I came into this restaurant to pick up a Grubhub order and confirmed with the staff that I had an order. While walking to the bathroom, I politely greeted a man sitting on the couch, and he stood up and yelled at me to “get out”, pointing toward the door. I was confused and tried to explain that I was just saying hello, but he screamed at me again. The owner — refused to apologize and waved me off dismissively. His behavior made it clear that BLACK people are not welcome, because if I had been white, I don’t believe he would have told me to leave. which in itself is odd because he’s a minority. The owner’s actions made this experience humiliating, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I will not be returning!!!

Stopped in today for the first time — this will be a new go to restaurant. The veggie combo special is incredible, the staff is friendly, and the pricing is great. I’d HIGHLY recommend!!

We had Chicken Awazi and fish Gulash with rice and salad. Both were very delicious. I would love to come back here try other dishes. The service was very nice and staff were very friendly.

I was waking down the street from my AirBnB actually looking for Chinese food. I stopped a young couple and they actually said none in the area but pointed out Deset which I had passed a few times. Wonderful Chicken Tiba dish and salad.. I was in the back by the stand where they poured on the incense which I Love but many people may not enjoy the heavy smoke from the burning. I had no issue. Would definitely come back on my next trip!
