This was my first time at this location, and it’s been many years. Unfortunately, it’s not as good as it used to be. I got the sausage sandwich, which I assumed would be an Italian sausage, but instead was a mixture of chunks of sausage, kind of like the ones that you would find on pizza, in a thick sauce with some mushrooms and onions. And there was not that much in the way of sausage. It’s too bad, this used to be a great restaurant 15 years ago when I used to go to the other location.
In Austin subs (or hoagies) have been around for a long time. However, in 1980 Peter Ademski founded the Delaware Sub Shop. He is the man responsible for bringing East Coast staples like the Philly Cheesesteak and Delaware Italian Subs to Austin, Texas. If you ask 100 people where is the best cheesesteak in Austin, a lot of people are going to say Hoodies in Round Rock. Guess where Richard Hoody got his start? At Delaware Subs. He was Pete's business partner when they were founded. Some might say, Tucci’s Southside Subs? Like Hoody's their fans are very vocal about the quality of their sandwiches. As it turns out, Dave Tucci worked for Pete and the two Tucci's locations at Oak Hill and on William Cannon Drive were both Delaware Subs stores at one time. At its peak, Pete has 15 com
Good sub shop with friendly service. I ordered the Italian gourmet prosciutto. Very tasty sub with fresh meat and veggies. I added the sweet peppers as well. Great experience and would definitely return
Been eating at Delaware for 30+ years. It is genuinely good. Highly recommended. Take a step back from their philly cheesesteak (which rocks) and get one of their Italian subs. Genuinely good. Never had bad service over 30+ years. Always been adequate to excellent. Service has been really good the last 5 years or so.
I had high hopes of a sub shop that’s been around for 44 years, but they’ve been whittled down to one last location & I can tell why. Tried the Delaware classic cold sub, not very good. It’s put together in way that difficult to eat, not really seasoned, pretty bland. It’s a bit run down inside, tiny tv playing bad sitcoms on the way, just no real care for esthetics. I guess their hot subs might be better, but I doubt I’ll be back.
