At last a dim sum bakery in Elk Grove! This place is relatively new—so new that I think they haven’t used up their Sacramento plastic bags from a previous location lol. There isn’t anywhere to sit and dine in, at least not yet, but the floor is spacious and easy to navigate around. There’s a freezer section with prices displayed on the right hand section of the bakery if you want to prepare anything for later. I think the shrimp and pork dumplings are raw at the very least, so you’ll need to have some knowledge of how to prepare these. The warm section features steamed and baked buns, steamed dumplings, flaky pies and tarts, and flat rice noodles as pictured. The portions seem bigger than somewhere like even ABC bakery and Lam Kwon, which probably also bakes (haha) into the higher price.
Yum! Delicious dim sum. Some of the best I’ve had. They sell fresh and frozen dim sum. Both are great. Just wish they were open a little longer. First time I went they were already closed for the day. Take out only right now.
We ordered a bunch of dim sum - shu mai, har gao, custard buns, steamed and baked pork buns, lomi chicken wrapped in lotus leaf, and chive dumplings. Everything was delicious, well portioned and reasonably priced!! Service was very friendly. I came near the end of the day so a lot of stuff was already sold out - go earlier if you want more selection ! Everything was great - two that we really loved were the shu Mai and the custard bolo bao which actually had real pineapple in it !!
D&D Dim Sum Bakery is a okay spot if you’re craving dim sum and want plenty of options to choose from. The dim sum itself is okay—not mind-blowing, but solid enough to satisfy the craving. This is the first time that I saw BBQ pork is yellow color instead of red color. What really stands out is the variety: lots of different items available, so it’s easy to grab a mix of things and try a little of everything. Overall, a convenient stop for casual dim sum, especially if you enjoy having many choices in one place. 🥟🙂
Takeout only hole-in-the-wall in the best way. Everything I tried - BBQ pork bun, beef cheung fun, green tea sesame ball, taro dumplings - seemed fresh and handmade. No mass produced dumplings here. Prices were very reasonable. Everything was very tasty and most items were seasoned on the mild side. There were lots of frozen buns and dumplings that I wanted to take home too. There were many more options that I'll be back to try!
