Darby Public Library

I love this library. My kids enjoy playing on the computers. It’s a great place for younger kids too. They have an under 7 room with toys and books, legos for older kids, and the park is just outside. Plus, they always have activities and things they give away for kids. As far as the adult section, if they don’t have a book there, they will get it for you, but the selection is pretty great. There is a decent amount of periodicals, plus there are the computers available for people to use and print with for a small charge. It’s Darby’s best little secret.

I really love this local library! My only feedback is I wish the librarians would take an “inside whisper’ voice more seriously... It’s so difficult to focus and work when the librarians and guests are speaking loudly to each other at the front desk. It would be nice if they encouraged a quite place.

The Darby Public Library is a treasure in Montana's lower Bitterroot Valley. It goes WAY beyond simply being a building for checking out a good read. It offers extensive community services including space for public meetings and other activities The library is part of an excellent regional library exchange system, has a great resource area stocked with PC's, scanners, printer services and assistance (although one caveat is that there were no Mac operating systems last I was there). The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Lastly the library board is not intimidated by those who wish to stifle freedom of speech and the active acquisition and sharing of knowledge. Beautiful building. Wendy is a wonderful librarian. The kids programs are top notch. Very helpful and friendly staff (and volunteers).

I absolutely love this library my children love the library, its a safe environment for them to be, glad my children have a safe place to play.
