After a long weekday at work, I needed a reminder that life is still moving and there are moments worth enjoying. So we decided to head downtown, and our night ended at Darband Restaurant. It was pretty late and the place was very quiet. At first, I was a little worried when we walked in, but that feeling quickly disappeared. The server welcomed us warmly, the soft music created a relaxing atmosphere, and most importantly, the food completely turned the night around. The Chenjeh kebab was excellent and honestly the highlight of the meal—I highly recommend it. My mom ordered the boneless chicken kebab and she was very happy with it. We had an amazing experience here over the summer ('25), still thinking about it six months or so later. The kebabs, the tomatoes, the rice... And very friendly staff as well as a relaxing, sophisticated but comfortable atmosphere. A highlight of our visit to SD.

Truly a gem for authentic Persian cuisine in downtown San Diego. The name “Darband” itself carries legacy, and after dining here, it's clear why they've been around since 1998. We stopped in and ordered their signature kabob plate — juicy, flavorful koobideh and well-charred chicken served alongside perfectly fluffed saffron rice and grilled vegetables. As seen in the photos, every element on the plate was executed with care. The chicken in particular stood out for its tenderness and bold seasoning. Very nice restaurant that appears to be under the radar. My wife, daughter, and me visited Darband on a Sunday afternoon. Not many people at this time. It was nice and quiet with some background music. The food was very good and the portions were good for the price. The flavors are quite good, with plenty of options for those that are vegan.

I saw many one-star reviews and thought I should try this place myself and share my own experience. It’s clean, plays Persian music, and definitely offers an authentic Darband-style food experience. I hope people can be kinder to small businesses like this.
