Danthai Restaurant

It had been years since I've been to Danthai but I remember enjoying their food. I heard that they were under new ownership and management but I decided to get dinner there last night to see if there was any consistency or improvement. Instead, I was met with disappointment. I ordered two things that I normally love: 1) Roti Massaman, and 2) Pad Thai. The roti was small, oily and undercooked. It was flimsy instead of crispy and flaky like I expected. Additionally, the "Massaman curry" that comes with it did not resemble a curry or gravy or sauce at all. It had the consistency of water and tasted like a diluted coconut soup (It didn't stick at all to the roti when I dipped it!). Trying a new Thai Restaurant, food was slightly cold, salty and favor was just okay.Service can definitely use some improvement. I'm literally the only customer in the restaurant dining, no utensils on a table , I had to ask for cup for my water jug,I had to repeat my order which came out wrong and asked for the Thai iced tea three times. The two servers are on the other side of the restaurant eating, chatting with each other and not even once came over to make sure everything was okay or if I needed something else. This is not okay. My personal opinion the music is nice jazz but it's just a bit too loud. With easy improvements this can be a very nice place to dine.

So disappointed. Definitely not the original owners. Been eating here since 2007. It's always been my comfort food, tried and true and delicious. In the past three months I've ordered three times and three times it's been terrible. My most favorite dish was peppered with black pepper and tasted like it was from a bad cookbook. Last night paid 60 bucks for a meal that was barely worth 10. Thai Tea was undrinkable. Disgustingly sweet. Calamri came with six rings. Basil rolls had NO basil and no pork and the shrimp were translucent. I hope more long time customers leave one and two star reviews.

This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant. Nice ambience, peaceful music and spaced seating. Major upgrades were made to the interior which is a lot more welcoming. The food is soooo good. And made with the quickness. The Pad Prik is easily my favorite dish, especially when you add the Thai Hot spice to it. White rice to add to the entree makes it that much more pleasant to enjoy and eat. The Pad Thai is on a whole other level compared to other places I've been to. Such a big portion but a really good price. Staff is quick and attentive and don't hover to rush you out.

My family has eaten here many times as well as ordering pick-up and delivery. It was delivery this time and I had their VDay special - lobster Pad Thai. OMG DELICIOUS! PLEASE keep this on the menu - I'd order it again and again! Order was delivered on time, food was hot, and it was all especially flavorful - more so than I've ever had! I called before ordering and the person who answered was very helpful/able to answer all my questions about the food. I've had Thai food from a few other places and this is the best by far. It's normally pretty quiet even when the restaurant is full of people. As for ordering online, I love all the options to add/delete things and that I can order extra protein.
