Daily Grounds (Brooklawn)

Overall, I’m giving five stars as I’m always happy to see a small local café that has offerings for tea drinkers, places to sit and hang out or study, and good food choices. I’ve been twice in a short time span so that speaks to the fact that I like it a lot already! There are a couple of kinks because they are new and I will share them here, with the caveat that I’m confident things will be worked out quickly in the next couple months. The food that we’ve tried was really good. We ordered the Sausage Sunrise sandwich (think elevated Egg McMuffin ), the Daily Grounds (avocado/bacon/tomato/hot honey) Toast, Italian Wedding Soup, and the PB Power Toast (peanut butter/banana/honey/chia). The barista was super sweet and the cafe itself is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately I am gluten free and I find with most places, the upcharge is crazy. My breakfast sandwich was over $11 and was mediocre at best. I also added avocado which I understand is an upcharge, barely any on my sandwich and didn’t look very fresh. Please consider reevaluating your menu prices to make it affordable for the average person. Thank you!

This place is amazing, it’s our go to coffee & breakfast spot since they have opened. but when you go in and order your food and the lady who we have never seen there before does not 1, wash her hands prior to making your food or drink and 2, does not put gloves on while preparing your food is a little disturbing. When questioned if the servsafe certification was present she said “she didn’t know if there was one present in the building” and also said “she doesn’t wear gloves because sometimes the gloves burn to the food”. I ordered 2 pork roll and cheese with hot sauce on a bagel and there was 1 slice of pork roll and 1 slice of cheese on each of the sandwiches.

Love this spot, been coming here since they’ve opened. While visiting here today the girl making my food did not have gloves on at any point while making my food and the customers order after me. Having a Servesafe certification myself this is very unsanitary. Pretty disappointing. It’s pure laziness.

Just stopped in and got a hot chocolate, very good. Very nice inside with a good selection of pastries.
