Custard was great! Ordered a large vanilla with Oreo, cookie dough, and Reese’s with hot fudge. The same amount of ice cream as a McDonald’s cone. Was expecting a little more for a large but there was still enough to split.
This was my first time. Driven by the place for years but never stopped. Always seems busy so I assumed the food was good. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger for 15.50 which came with fries and fry sauce. The fries were hot and delicious and not greasy. The burger was large with fresh veggies decent-sized Patty but no sauce whatsoever. They had ketchup and mustard packets available at the counter. Menu said it came with sweet relish which it did not. It did come with sliced dill pickle of which I asked for extra but if you call five slices extra I would debate it. Overall the hamburger was tasty but a little greasy because they do brown the bun with butter I'm assuming. The vanilla custard Shake was delicious. Not so sure I will be returning anytime soon but I might go back and try something e
They have a separate fryer for the tater tots and fries, so they are safe for gluten sensitivities! Also have great gluten free buns. One of the best diner type burgers I have had and with friendly service. This was our favorite meal while in Astoria.
Custard King is a nostalgic little gem that totally hit the spot on our visit. I picked up small swirl cups with hot fudge for my kids and they absolutely loved them — creamy, rich, and just the right size for a sweet treat. The swirl was classic and smooth, and the hot fudge was perfectly gooey without being too much. Service was quick and friendly, and there’s a fun, old-school vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. Great stop for a low-key dessert that doesn’t disappoint.
I wanted to try this classic custard and hamburger stand and had a good experience. I ordered a grilled chicken burger with fries, and a vanilla custard with berry toppings after a short wait in line. The menu has burgers tacos, clam chowder, and frozen custard milkshakes, floats, and cones with a large selection of toppings. I received a pager for my order and it took about fifteen minutes. The chicken burger had good taste and was not overcooked. It was a little messy with the sauce dripping out of the burger. The homemade fries were crispy and a little salty. The vanilla custard was rich and a little sweet with the berry toppings. Located on the corner of 16th and Commercial Street in Astoria with limited street parking. You will find outdoor seating and a walk-up window with a
